HW

Whuttup Wednesday!

Hiyoooo!!!  Still recovering from SXSW and for those who were at the parties I rocked (Indie Showcase and Fake Four Showcase!) as well as just in Austin in general you know how majickal it was…Nuff said.  I want to give a HUGE shout out to my brother from another mother HW for being my co-pilot and roll dog for the whole trip, I couldn’t have done it with out you homie!  Soooo much This American Life…if you haven’t peeped the show live or in podcast form you are missing out.  Shouts to Ira Glass for being a broadcast giant.  If you would like to see some funny quotes and video of the trip check HW’s Tumblr page HERE.  Now on with the show…

This week I have two items that are banging in my boombox these days along with a remix by me that was finished on the road in Baton Rouge (thanks for the couch Sara, hope your roomie is not too pissed about it still).  So let’s get down on the get down, shall we?

PremRock & Willie Green: Reassembled

The NYC up and comers and homies PremRock & Willie Green have had a decent amount of buzz about their incredible debut album as a duo and they have enlisted the help of all their producer friends to give Willie a break and give you a fantastic new record in the form of PremRock & Willie Green: Reassembled featuring the talents of producers such as Dirt E. Dutch, Nasa and Blockhead so you know it’s dopesauce…plus it comes with all the instrumentals too!  Click the cover above to check the bandcamp page for it and grab yourself a copy ASAP!    Also as an extra bonus for you, I will give you FREE a copy of my remix that sadly was not in time for Willie to master because of SXSW prep and various life whatknots…BOO!  DJ HALO, BOO!  yeah, yeah I know…

PremRock & Willie Green ft. Open Mic Eagle – Jogger (HALO Remix)

Treasure Fingers ‘Rooftop Revival’ EP

Another banger of an EP from the good folks at Scion A/V this time from Brooklyn based electro master and Fool’s Gold fam, Treasure Fingers.  Six tracks of total insanity on the dance floor with the original by Treasure Fingers and 5 (count them!) 5 remixes by some of the best producers around these days.  I would highly recommend a listen and DL, it’s FREE what do you have to lose?

Ruff Mix Monday Baton Rouge Edition

Hoooolllleerrr!!!  So I am down in Baton Rouge, LA with the homie HW enroute to SXSW where we will be performing tomorrow at the Indie 512 Music Showcase and I will be rocking at the Fake Four Showcase the next day, both @ 512 Rooftop in Austin, TX.  Peep the flyers for how incredible these events are going to be…

As you can imagine I am pretty excited to get into Austin tomorrow…but for now what I have for you is a great new FREE Brother Ali EP, audio from the crypts of my WPKN show archives and a few whatknots to help you waste time at work…you can thank me later in whatever manner you feel is warranted: kiss on the cheek, punch in the face, jig in the neck, just the tip, whatever…aiight enough foreplay, let’s get to the heavy petting!

Brother Ali ‘The Bite Marked Heart’

Brand new Brother Ali!  So new in fact that I haven’t even had the chance to give it a good day in court, but it’s Ali so I can’t imagine it being bad.  If it is bad please comment so that peeps know!  Seven tracks of total awesomeness (I assume) from the Rhymesayers staple and one (yes, I know more) of the most badass albino rappers in the game today.  Jeah!

Audio from the crypts: WPKN Archives

I dug up a few shows of note from this past fall, so now you you can DL them and relive the hilarity over and over again…FOR FREE.  There are no free lunches, but this will only cost your time, a few salty tears from the laughing, and tighter abs from the laughing as well.  Thank me later…

Six Feet Deep ft. Rikki

Brought my sister Rikki in to help relaunch Six Feet Deep at it’s new time slot (8-11pm alt Wednesdays on wpkn 89.5fm and www.wpkn.org) and much laughs and silliness was had.  Check the family chemistry, jealous your sister isn’t this cool?  Thought so…

Random fill in show from 2010

I just stumbled across this show audio in my HD when I was doing a bit of housekeeping, uhhh enjoi.

Six Feet Deep: Pre-Thanksgiving Edition ft. DestructoMuse

Before stuffing your faces with Turkey Day goodness, I figured it would be a nice gesture I would stuff your ears with sonic goodies to keep you in tune until your family shows up.  Aaaaannnd I brought along my partner in crime DestructoMuse to help out with the music selection, opinions & frivolity!  After you are done laughing at the show, peep this video also recommend by DestructoMuse HERE.

Random Debris

While HW and I have been on the road I have giving him about a million quotables and some pretty hilarious video as well…peep game right here and continue to follow his tumblr for more HALO mayhem as well as his sensitive and thoughtful raps and rantings.

Valentine’s Day Spectacular on WPKN

Had a rare chance to be on-air for Valentine’s Day and FUNraising…how could the stars have aligned like this?  Well they did and a great show was done of all songs I feel express to true nature of love which is a painful (beautifully so) event no matter how you dice it.  Take a listen and ENJOY!!!

Mornings on WPKN Valentine’s Day Spectacular

Tuesday is Recycling Day and I Looooove Recycling

For nearly half a decade Bondfire has been providing unforgettable moments, and a great proving ground, for music fans and artists alike, every last Tuesday of the month at the Bowery Poetry Club in NYC. The event, however, is going to end its four and a half year run on February 28th.

Much more than just another NYC open mic, Bondfire has been a unique artist-driven community, and its stage has witnessed the growth of many talented acts. Artists including Tah Phrum Duh Bush, iAreConscious, and PremRock went from rocking the Bondfire stage to touring overseas. Homeboy Sandman went from the Bondfire stage to signing a deal with Stones Throw Records. Countless other artists saw their YouTube views go from the hundreds to the thousands. There was the night the legendary Kool Herc came through to enjoy the show and give words of encouragement. The Bondfire community also came together when a non-regular swiped co-host Tasty Keish’s laptop, raising the money to get her a new one. This is why, even though it was billed as an open mic (or, in Bondfire terminology, a “mic open”) with main event acts, emcee Warren Britt, who has been a mainstay at the show, has another way to describe Bondfire – “it was family.” To read the whole article visit Adam’s World Blog
