Whuttup Wednesday!

It’s hump day and like all weeks, you are close enough to the weekend to taste it, but far enough away to be at the bottom of your dispair about never getting there.  Buck up, here’s some items that should help get you through…we can do this, together (cue sappy/inspirational music in 3…2…1).

Corina Corina ‘O.D. Love’ (Deto-22 Remix)

Hot off the griddle from BK songstress Corina Corina and remixed by 1/4 of CT’s Phenetiks Crew, Deto-22.  I wouldn’t sleep if I were you…

Paper Tiger – The Sting feat Homeboy Sandman

New heater from Paper Tiger of the UK, not Doomtree’s Brooklyn Transplant (shouts to E. Lit on the correction; check dude’s blog.  Got some really insightful reviews in there) featuring NYC’s Stones Throw representative Homeboy Sandman; 7″ out on 5/13 via UK based Wah Wah 45’s which is a great little label out there is you are unfamiliar.

and for my electro heads…

Aesop Rock ‘Harbor is Yours’ (HALO Remix)

Harbor is Yours Remix Cover

Finally making music again, so I thought I’d share this pretty dark take on Aesop Rock’s “Harbor is Yours” one of my favorite tracks of his seminal album ‘None Shall Pass’. Enjoy, and if you are in the Bay area at all this saturday you might want to check me out spinning the jams all night at The Legionnaire Saloon and check the flyer as it came out pretty awesome, my comic nerds will know you that uber hot chick is. Freak Out Friday: Blizzard addition!

Hey Hey!!!  It’s been a minute since I posted here…sorry and such.  I am in the midst of getting snowed in from storm NEMO so I thought “heck I’ll post on the site”.  Got a bunch of goodies to share from homies Willie Green, Baker and celebrate the birth of super producer J Dilla (RIP)…let’s get down to it shall we?

WILLIE GREEN DROPS NEW SINGLE ‘FAST LANE’ ft. BS and ANGIE3

NYC Producer Willie Green (of PremRock & Willie Green) is dropping his lead single from the album ‘We Live in the Future’ today son, today on Bandcamp with a video in the works for Valentine’s Day.  Peep game…

NEW TRACK FROM OH EMCEE BAKER

One of my favorite homies and mayor of Youngstown, OH has released a new joint that I have seen live and love.  You should too…

CELEBRATE THE BIRTH OF SUPER PRODUCER J DILLA

OK I am not going to lie, I am not a Dilla deciple, but I do like alot of the work that he did and feel he shoudl have a place in the annals of Hip-Hop history as well as being an inspiration to countless producers of the present and future.  That said, let’s take a look at the man on his date of birth…

DILLA DONUTS

Pretty much his seminal work as a solo producer, it’s a compilation of short beat tracks and sample laden goldmine.  I used to use the track ‘Light My Fire’, a reworking of The Doors classic in funk style, in a battle routine from days past.  Stones Throw also released a great double LP/Serato tone set called Donut Shop with selected Dilla instrumentals if you are of the collecting and vinyl mentality.  I have a copy and would def recommend copping it…
