OK I am not going to lie, I am not a Dilla deciple, but I do like alot of the work that he did and feel he shoudl have a place in the annals of Hip-Hop history as well as being an inspiration to countless producers of the present and future. DILLA DONUTS
Pretty much his seminal work as a solo producer, it’s a compilation of short beat tracks and sample laden goldmine. I used to use the track ‘Light My Fire’, a reworking of The Doors classic in funk style, in a battle routine from days past. Stones Throw also released a great double LP/Serato tone set called Donut Shop with selected Dilla instrumentals if you are of the collecting and vinyl mentality. I have a copy and would def recommend copping it…
