The newest episode of Mixology dropped the night before I flew out on tour with Kool Keith and MC Homeless. For this set, I broke in my new Pioneer REV5 controller—bought specifically for an upcoming west coast tour—and wow, this thing is the jam. It’s not the same as my turntable workflow (no contest there), but with the feel of two CDJs and an S7 mixer in one unit, it’s no slouch either.
Fresh out of the box, I was still getting used to its mechanics, but I was happy with how the set turned out. Sticking to Mixology’s signature remixing and genre-bending, I kept the BPM higher (mostly in the 113–120 range), leaning into house-style remixes while still bouncing all over the map sonically. A great dance mix overall—enjoy!
