Friday Treat…WPKN Morning Show Podcasts!!!

Hellooooo Cleveland!!!   So I have been in hiatus as of recent times mostly because last week (if you checked my live dates page) I was crazy busy and had no time.  Also, I have been rolling around how I want to proceed with adding content to this site.  Big Decisions, I know…considering as how all I do is post live mixes and call that content…but whatever.  In any case, I have begun the painstaking process of editing my Morning Show and Six Feet Deep recordings to be ready for easily digestible hour long podcast posts for download.  These will change over time to become a zip file which includes a playlist doc as well, but for now you’ll just get the edited audio…pfff!!!  Hey it’s hard pouring through all this audio and prepping it for the web…really???  I’d like to see you do it…So here are two episodes of my Morning Show on WPKN; one is in it’s entirety and the other is broken into 3 hour segments (yes, like most things I do, I thought of the hour segments as I was prepping the audio for the second episode…dang!  So many questions today sheesh…).  Click on the flyer or the link here

Valentine’s Day Treat!!!

Whuttup, Whuttup!!!  So with the big V-Day upon us soon, I thought I would add to the hoopla myself by crafting a mix that celebrates the sadder side of that pesky emotion of love (sorry there are no bromance songs…).  We all deal with it in our own way and here is my take on it.  Yes, I did recycle a track that I made as the intro…I freaking thought of this on Wednesday, cut me some slack here!!! Without further adieu, here’s DJ Halo’s Valentine’s Day 2010 mix…click the cover or the link here

BTW, I’ll be doing a show with the homies New World Side Order in BK @ The Beauty Bar on Valentine’s day so grab your partner and rock out the the futuristic sounds of Concept 2020, Crazy E 2020 and Halo 2020 (always weird seeing him at events…so that’s what I’m gonna look like in 2020…hmmm).  I start rocking at 10pm, NWSO @ 11pm, DJ Halo 12-???

Tuesday is Recycling Day and I Looove Recycling…

Hootie Whooo, Who Dat and all that jazz…What is good my people!!!  Snowboarding yesterday was ILLLLLL, bust ass city but still a good day on the mountain despite the gimpy gait I now have for the nonce.  I have updated the Live Dates section so you should take a look at that to see if I’ll be in your area and If you didn’t catch the SUPER Bowl…well, you missed a great game where the better team really came out on top.  A fantastically strategized game by the coaching staff of the Saints, my hats of to this year’s World Champs.  Thanks for having a final game that doesn’t suck…Speaking of not sucking, my favorite commercial of the game was the Snickers ad in which Betty White gets put DOWN…Hilarious!!!  Check it…

Now on with my normal content jacking…As always thanks to the fine folks at Adam’s World Blog for letting me rerun their Artist of the Week feature.  This week’s Artist is My Brother’s Keeper aaaaand it just so happens to be the 200th (!!!) Artist of the Week feature, my hat’s of the Adam’s World for having a great column for so long…Dang!!!  Why did I even wear a hat today???

This feature is a momentous one. It’s the 200th Artist Of The Week here at Adam’s World. For such a milestone I wanted to get an artist who’s been down from the start. I actually managed to do one better than that – I found multiple artists who’ve been down from the start in My Brother’s Keeper. My Brother’s Keeper consists of (from L to R) Larry “Scholar” Aruwayo, Terrance “Thinker” Kelly, Dwayne “Tzo” Stewart and Levar “L-Star” McGibbon. I first met Thinker and Tzo back when I was co-hosting a radio show called In Da Mixx and they came to the studio with longtime B-Lister Conscious. That was at least five years ago, so with my Artist Of The Week feature reaching the milestone of #200, I could think of no one more appropriate to give the honor to than My Brother’s Keeper.
A hip-hop quartet with unparalleled skills on the mic and behind the boards, My Brother’s Keeper headlined as one of the main acts at Bondfire in January at the Bowery Poetry Club in NYC. Their maxi single for “Master Musical Minds” / “Power Up” is available for download, and according to Scholar the group is over three quarters of the way done with a full length album, targeting a mid-summer release for it. L-Star notes the hip-hop scene has been changing as of late, and changing in a way that’s good for My Brother’s Keeper, saying “real people who are themselves are taking over.” It gets no realer than My Brother’s Keeper and this week I caught up with them to find out more about the group, including how they came together, what some of their inspirations are, and the aspects of NYC’s hip-hop scene that they feel don’t get enough recognition.  For the full article, check Adam’s World Blog…

Ruff Mix Mondays!!!

YOOOO!!!  Ruff mixes in effect, I have been hard at work in the lab putting in ridiculous hours to get some mixes done.  Check later in the week for my Special Valentine’s Day mix (ladies Grab your Kleenex…). But here is a quickie mix I did of some dance remixes of hip-hop tracks and other assorted electro type ish.   Now I gotta run and go Snowboarding!!!  Click the photo or check the link here to download the mix…

Tuesday is Recycling Day and I Looove Recycling!!!

Hey Hey!!!  So crazy weekend; nothing like 45min of sleep in 3 days.  Am I crazy???  YES!!! But just crazy busy that is…well maybe the other too, but that’s unimportant right now.  What is important is, What the Hell???  no Monday mix???  yeaahhh about that, I am just running outta stuff to post so for now so I must go back to the lab and churn out some sub par mixes so I can post them.  Please forgive me…OK, well then just know there will be a new mix posted this week as well as Monday.  Fair enough???  Great!!!  On with the show!!!  Speaking of, my morning show this morning was rather good so take a peep at the archive of it here or check the link below…

Mornings on WPKN w/Jeep Ward Behind the Board & Alyssa B (yeah it’s a mouthful so what?)

OK now Artist of the week this week is a great artist form the frosty midwest of Minneapolis…Dessa!!!  She’s got a new album out and it BANGS…so peep game below.  Thanks as always to Adam;s World Blog for letting me continually jack his site content, Thumbs Up Broznihan!!!

A lifelong Minnesota native, Doomtree emcee Dessa felt a musical influence very early on in life thanks to her Bronx born and raised mother. “My dad, as he tells it, says he found her clapping my hands along with the radio to make sure that I would be able to keep time.” Her mother also encouraged her to ad-lib to the popular songs on the radio. Late last month Dessa revealed the latest fruits of those influences, her official solo debut, A Badly Broken Code. With the sheer variety of music on the album Dessa notes it’s a fairly difficult project to categorize, saying “it’s a bitch of a record to try to put on a planogram.” Also a poet, and published author, Dessa’s artistic accomplishments extend beyond her rhymes and songs. This week I caught up with her to find out more about her work, the biggest musical hurdle she’s encountered as an emcee, and how a run in with a husky, balding, middle-aged man reminded her of the universality of art.  For the full article, check Adam’s World Blog…
