Saskatoon’s Kay the Aquanaut and Regina’s Merky Waters join forces

The homie from Saskatoon asked me to help promo this project so I peeped it and it’s bananas, peep game fool courtesy of our friends at Ominocity.com… Hip hop artist Kay the Aquanaut has kindly dropped his latest track “Yep, the sky is falling…” on Ominocity for our readers to enjoy. The song is the first collaboration between Kay and Regina’s Merky Waters who produced the track. Also featured is Enver Hampton on bass. Kay will be releasing an EP produced entirely by Factor under the group name Laika entitled “Pangaean Drift” on July 3rd. Method Man and Bigstat 2AM Marriott Cypher

The CT homie Big Stat has been a fixture in CT for a long time from his group H.U.S.H.H to his solo career the man has been steadily on his grizzly and this video is a testament to that.  He has been homies with Meth and Ghost for a while now having toured with them in the US and been on some really big shows as a result, but still manages to stay humble and keep all in perspective…wish I could do the same!  Also peep the mixtape Don’t Quit Your Day Job hosted by Redman…bangin!

Rob Swift Roc’s for Roc Raida

Big shouts to Adam’s World Blog  for always letting me jack his site content!

When someone passes away we can mourn them, celebrate their life, or do a little bit of both. For DJ Rob Swift, he decided it was time to celebrate the life of his friend Roc Raida, who passed away in 2009 from cardiac arrest. The project Swift has put together, titled Roc For Raida, features both the music and the thoughts on the fallen X-Ecutioners member. Swift describes it as “a really honest and genuine representation of Roc Raida the artist, the person, the human being.” Not only that, Swift is convinced that Roc had a hand in putting it together, and he told me the interesting story of how. In addition to discussing how the album came to fruition, Swift also shared his ideas on how we as a community stay positive despite so many of our peers passing away, and he revealed the one rapper who’s brain he’d love to pick.

D-Sisive ‘Ghetto Bastard’

If you are unfamiliar with Naughty by Nature’s 1991 hit ‘Ghetto Bastard’ you are not much of a Hip-Hop fan, or at least haven’t been one for very long…yeah, yeah I know there’s tons of artists out there and all, but there are just some songs that you should at least have heard of.  This is one of them and Canadian MC D-Sisive does an incredible job capturing the emotional feeling of this song in a completely different context.  DOOOOPE!

Tuesday is Recycling Day and I Looooove Recycling

For nearly half a decade Bondfire has been providing unforgettable moments, and a great proving ground, for music fans and artists alike, every last Tuesday of the month at the Bowery Poetry Club in NYC. The event, however, is going to end its four and a half year run on February 28th.

Much more than just another NYC open mic, Bondfire has been a unique artist-driven community, and its stage has witnessed the growth of many talented acts. Artists including Tah Phrum Duh Bush, iAreConscious, and PremRock went from rocking the Bondfire stage to touring overseas. Homeboy Sandman went from the Bondfire stage to signing a deal with Stones Throw Records. Countless other artists saw their YouTube views go from the hundreds to the thousands. There was the night the legendary Kool Herc came through to enjoy the show and give words of encouragement. The Bondfire community also came together when a non-regular swiped co-host Tasty Keish’s laptop, raising the money to get her a new one. This is why, even though it was billed as an open mic (or, in Bondfire terminology, a “mic open”) with main event acts, emcee Warren Britt, who has been a mainstay at the show, has another way to describe Bondfire – “it was family.” To read the whole article visit Adam’s World Blog…
